Txiki, Soriano under increasing pressure at Man City

The heat is turning up on Manchester City football chiefs Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano.

The Sunday Mirror says the two former Barcelona executives were recruited after playing key roles in making the Catalan club a world force both on and off the pitch.

Whether their record at City will hold up remains to be seen.

City have spent £120million during three transfer windows - yet the spine of Manuel Pellegrini's team is still the one that was put in place by previous managers Stuart Pearce, Mark Hughes and Roberto Mancini.

Questions are also likely to be raised about the wisdom of handing massive new contracts to a clutch of players who may have peaked last season.

Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko, in particular, have struggled with injuries and loss of form after excelling last term.
