Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has praised manager Louis van Gaal for showing faith in him.

Throughout his glorious 25-year managerial career, van Gaal has been a much divisive figure due to his strict disciplinarian ways as well as habit of speaking his mind in the media without mincing his words.

Despite having such a reputation, 19-year old Shaw has revealed that the Dutch tactician has another side and has been helpful in his development since he arrived from Southampton in the summer.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Shaw said: "He has two sides to him, but he is genuinely a really nice guy and a great manager.

"You have seen what he has turned United into in recent weeks but that is because there is a really focused side, where you have to give 100 per cent in every training session and game and be focused all the time.<;> "If you don't give that, he won't play you and that's what he is like."
