Two-goal Miller relieved as Vancouver Whitecaps edge New England

Kenny Miller was more relieved than anything as Vancouver Whitecaps hung on for a 4-3 win over New England Revolution on the weekend.

The Scottish striker scored a brace as the 'Caps came from two goals down to take a 4-2 lead at BC Place before giving the ten-man Revs a pathway back into the game in the final few minutes.

The win allowed Vancouver to move up to seventh place on the Western Conference table and Miller was simply happy to have held on for maximum points.

"The first 20 minutes, we probably never got started the way we would have liked," Miller said following the match.

"But obviously with the penalty (scored by Camilo) and the sending off (of Andrew Farrell) it gives you that boost to go on and get goals."

He added: "It was hard work and we made it tougher than it probably should have been toward the end. But we've got to take the positives. It's three points, it's four goals at home."

Juan Agudelo and Kelyn Rowe gave the Revs a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes prior to Farrell's sending off for a foul on Miller and Camilo's penalty conversion in the 24th minute.

The Whitecaps then made it four goals in a row as Miller produced a dazzling run from the centre of the pitch before slotting past Bobby Shuttleworth in the 39th minute. Jordan Harvey added a third two minutes before half-time prior to Miller firing home a sublime volley from outside the area with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Revs sub Dimitriy Imbongo sent a scare through the Whitecaps camp with an 84th minute goal to make it 4-3 but the home side held on for a valuable victory.
