Twitter charge for West Ham striker Cole

West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has been charged by the Football Association for comments made on social media.

Cole was embroiled in a Twitter altercation with a Tottenham supporter after the 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane last month.

The 31-year old responded to a Tweet from the Spurs fan before later deleting the message.

The FA has feels Cole's message 'was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or brings the game into disrepute'.

Cole has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.
