Sunderland defender Michael Turner says they can be proud of their 2-2 draw at Liverpool.
Turner, who returned from an ankle injury, was delighted with the way his team rolled up their sleeves and battled after the early setback.
They established a 2-1 lead before being pegged back and were forced to hang on at the death as Liverpool piled forward.
"The response to the early goal was excellent," Turner told safc.com. "We got ourselves on top and did well the whole game to be fair.
"We pressured them into making mistakes. The midfield boys did really well, they knocked it around and we created chances.
"Overall it was a very pleasing team performance.
"We knew we would be hanging on at the end because Liverpool were desperate to win. We had to dig in and hold on but we did that well."
