Middlesbrough signing Sanli Tuncay was on Teesside yesterday for his club medical.
It is understood Tuncay was at the club's Rockliffe Park training headquarters on Thursday and has had his medical, and now all that remains is to complete the administrative side of the deal.
He will now need a work permit but that should be a formality as he fulfils the criterion of having played in more than 75% of his country's international games in the last two years.
Tuncay will become Southgate's third summer signing after Jonathan Woodgate and Jeremie Aliadiere - and he is unlikely to be the last.
