Goalkeeper:
Danny Vukovic (Central Coast Mariners)
To keep last season's champions goalless is a brilliant effort even if he wasn't required to make any massive saves. The Victory peppered the goals in the second half but Vukovic held strong.
Defenders:
Scott Jamieson (Adelaide United)
Was part of the defence that held the new-look Perth Glory goalless. Set up plenty of chances for the Reds from right-back.
Robert Cornthwaite (Adelaide United)
Marshalled the troops from central defence as Adelaide defeated the Glory. Did an outstanding job keeping the dangerous duo of Mile Sterjovski and Eugene Dadi quiet and won the penalty for the Reds.
Michael Thwaite (Gold Coast United)
Did a stellar job in the heart of the United defence against Brisbane Roar's star striker Sergio van Dijk.
Ben Sigmund (Wellington Phoenix)
Was a shining light for the Phoenix and sparked their comeback against Newcastle with a first-half header into the back of the net.
Midfielders:
Jason Spagnuolo (North Queensland Fury)
The former Adelaide United midfielder had a brilliant debut match for the Fury, setting up their first goal with a pinpoint cross and then winning the penalty which Robbie Fowler tucked away.
Jason Culina (Gold Coast United)
The new club's marquee player led his side to a debut win over last year's preliminary finalists by scoring a goal and controlling the midfield.
Travis Dodd (Adelaide United)
The ever-reliable Reds skipper was everywhere once again. Led his side to a well-deserved victory and calmly put away his match-winning penalty.
Jin Hyung-Song (Newcastle Jets)
The South Korean was electric for the Jets, winning the ball in midfield and supplying accurate passes to teammates. A first-half shot proved too hard to handle for the Phoenix keeper which led to Hoffman's second goal.
Forwards:
Jason Hoffman (Newcastle Jets)
The 20-year old finally got off the mark in the A-League after 21 matches and not only did he score once but twice to see his team record a 3-2 victory against Wellington Phoenix.
John Aloisi (Sydney FC)
Last season was a disaster for the former Socceroo but he hit back in great fashion by netting twice and guiding the Sky Blues to an important 3-2 win over North Queensland Fury.
