TRIBAL TRENDS – TRANSFERS: Zlatan & Man Utd split? Griezmann fee agreed? Alexis to remain at Arsenal?

With the amount of rumours swirling around at this time of year, even after the winter transfer window, it is sometimes difficult to decipher the truth.

These are matters of importance.

As the transfer talk is now directed at the all-important summer market, there are enormous amounts of speculation swirling around Europe and the UK.

Not to worry however, because here at Tribalfootball, we have broken down the week's hottest transfer rumours, and inform you whether you should believe the paper talk or not.

Here are our top five trending transfer stories for the past week:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Manchester United
Leagues Interested: Major League Soccer, Chinese Super League

According to The Sunday Mirror, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be offered an extra-year contract by Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic tore his ACL in United's Europa League quarter-final clash with Anderlecht last week. He is expected to miss around nine months of action.

With that in mind, United is not expected to trigger a clause that extends Ibrahimovic's contract for one more season. Despite their reluctance, the club insists that they will continue to support Ibrahimovic during his rehabilitation.

A source said: “Zlatan will be given the club's support throughout his rehabilitation.

“If that means helping him beyond the final few months of his contract then that will happen."

According to David Anderson of The MirrorIbrahimovic "has already moved on from the Red Devils in his mind."

With offers from MLS and China on the table, a move abroad following such a horrific injury might be best for the 35-year old Swede.

It has been a whirlwind season for Ibrahimovic in his Premier League debut.

Yes, he delivered on his pre-season predictions of scoring goals, 28 in all competitions to be exact. However, he has also been one of the key problems for United.

Ibrahimovic leads the league in missed chances, and by some margin. The towering striker has missed 18 'big chances' – 5 more than second-placed Benik Afobe from AFC Bournemouth.

Since Ibrahimovic's injury, United gaffer Jose Mourinho has been forced to deploy Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the number 9 position.

Both have showed since Ibrahimovic's injury that they can fill the void – Rashford scored the winning goal against Anderlecht and Martial tore Burnley up last week – and both provide the one thing Ibrahimovic cannot – pace.

Likelihood: It was great while it lasted Ibra but it's time to move on!

Antoine Greizmann – Atletico Madrid

Clubs Interested: Manchester United

The biggest deal of the summer might be complete - well sort of.

According to former Gestifute agent Vincent Rodriguez, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have agreed a transfer fee for French striker Antoine Griezmann.

Despite Rodriguez's assertion, without words from either of the clubs or Griezmann himself, it is difficult to believe that the clubs have agreed a fee that will come close to breaking the world record.

Likelihood:Not yet

Liverpool

Players Interested In: Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon), Sead Kolasinac, Leon Goretzka & Max Meyer (Schalke), Naby Keita (RB Leipzig), Luan Vieira (Gremio), Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham)

As Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool push closer to Champions League qualification, the German's summer shopping list continues to grow.

The guarantee of Champions League football is a key incentive for players to switch clubs and challenge themselves in Europe's premier club competition. With the Anfield club close to attaining this huge goal, their talks with various players have since moved to the advanced stages, according to The Mirror

Klopp's wishlist includes: Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon), Sead Kolasinac, Leon Goretzka, Max Meyer (Schalke), Naby Keita (RB Leipzig), Luan Vieira (Gremio) Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham).

All of these prospective targets will go a long way to improving the Liverpool squad, and they could potentially provide the significant lift that Klopp's side needs to push for the title.

Likelihood: Some of these players could call Liverpool home this summer!

David De Gea – Manchester United
Clubs Interested: Real Madrid

What would Tribal Trends Transfers be without investigating rumours about Manchester United's David De Gea and his mooted switch to Real Madrid?

This week, The Sunreports that United boss Mourinho has demanded that both Raphael Varane and Alvaro Morata be included in the exchange for De Gea.

Morata is rated at around £50million, and Varane – who is seen a future rock in the Madrid defence – is believed to be valued at £35m. Both are 24 years old and have huge amounts of potential to grow and exceed their current market values.

Real are reportedly prepared to break the world record fee for a goalkeeper by offering United 60m pound for the 26 year old, but it seems unlikely that they will part with a pair of players are worth far more than this amount of money.

Despite Mourinho's hardball tactics, it all boils down to one factor – what does De Gea want?

Like all of the reported moves surrounding the Spanish international, they all rest on where De Gea desires to play.

Likelihood: Not this time

Alexis SanchezArsenal

Arsenal fans rejoice!

Well that is according to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger who has stated that superstar Alexis Sanchez will see out the remainder of his contract and stay with the club next season.

Following the North London club's triumph over Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, Wenger said: “Alexis Sanchez was like the team, he had problems to start with and became stronger and stronger."

“He is an animal, always ready to kill the opponent. He will never give up,"

“He will be here next year because he has a contract with us and hopefully we will manage to extend it."

With Arsenal looking more and more likely to miss out on Champions League qualification, the futures of Sanchez and fellow star Mesut Ozil, will continue to be discussed. For the players themselves, they will want to be performing at the highest level, and despite Wenger's confidence, that may not be at Arsenal.

Likelihood: Sanchez could be gone if Arsenal miss out on CL qualification
