TRIBAL TRENDS - TRANSFERS: The Coutinho effect - Liverpool eye Oblak, Mahrez & Suarez?; Griezmann left with Man Utd?; BVB nudging Spurs for Malcom;

It's the most wonderful time of the year. And yes, I'm aware the festive season is well and truly over, but transfer time is one of the most hectic times for football clubs, players and fans around the world.

From worst kept secrets to 11th hour bids, the mid-season window allows everyone a chance to revamp the squad in a bid for titles, continental football or just survival if need be.

The Coutinho saga dominated headlines for quite sometime, but it seems that the transfer will have had a profound effect on the transfer market with Liverpool looking to splash some cash.

A lot of moves seem dependent on other transfers going through, and Coutinho may have just been the first domino in the stack to topple the rest.

There's no time to waste, here's the latest transfer trends.

Antoine GriezmannAtletico Madrid

Clubs interested: Manchester United

Now how does Coutinho affect Griezmann you might ask?

The French maestro's dream move to Barcelona has been scuppered by the Brazilian's monster transfer fee, which means Barcelona are unlikely to spend much on a single player for the foreseeable future.

Griezmann may be stuck at Atletico for a while longer unless United provide a lifeline, which seems to be his only way out at this stage. It's no secret that Jose Mourinho is looking to offload and replace a couple of stars, namely that of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Seeing as Kylian Mbappe is practically off the market with PSG set to sign him permanently, Griezmann would provide the perfect replacement for the Armenian winger should he desperately wish to leave Atletico.

A deal for the unsettled Alexis Sanchez is still on the cards for United, but acquiring Griezmann could prove far less costly and a longer term player than the Chilean, who turns 30 this year.

Likelihood: Hugely dependent on Mkhitaryan's transfer status

Jan OblakAtletico Madrid

Clubs interested: Liverpool

A glaringly obvious priority for Liverpool is the need for a top of the line goalkeeper. The Liverpool faithful have voiced their dissatisfactions of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius for some time now.

Their main preference is another Atletico player in Jan Oblak. The 25-year-old Slovenian has made almost 100 appearances for Atletico since 2014, and his value is only going to go up.

Liverpool may be hesitating at his current asking price of £100 million, after having signed Virgil van Dijk for a huge fee. However, they will need to act quickly with Real Madrid and PSG potentially in the transfer mix for the Slovenian gloveman.

Anyone can tell you that Liverpool are loaded with Coutinho money, but where it gets spent is paramount to their future. They might be keeping tabs on other 'keepers, but they need to act and strengthen their last line of defence sooner rather than later.

Likelihood: Now or never, wait until summer and he's going elsewhere

Riyad MahrezLeicester City

Clubs interested: Liverpool

Mahrez to Liverpool was entirely contingent on Coutinho's move to Barcelona, and while the Algerian international is set for a medical at Liverpool, he's thrown a spanner in the works by suggesting he wants a move to Arsenal.

The move to Liverpool seems all but sealed, but should Arsenal want a replacement for Alexis Sanchez they wouldn't go wrong with Mahrez either.

He's hot property and adds championship value to any team, something that Liverpool lack more so than the Gunners at this stage.

It's unlikely that Arsenal would land an 11th hour bid, but don't be surprised. Crazier things have happened in football.

Likelihood: He's off to Merseyside after the medical

Luis Suarez - FC Barcelona

Clubs interested: Liverpool

Sink your teeth into this one.

As if the negotiations between Barcelona and Liverpool weren't enough, the Reds have left a cheeky parting jab at the Catalan giants by leaving the door open for a Luis Suarez return.

The Uruguayan left Liverpool in similar circumstances to Coutinho in 2014, and, much like when Cesc Fabregas did when he he left Arsenal, Suarez has since gone on to make countless appearances and winning a myriad of trophies with Barcelona.

However, the relationship between Suarez and coach Ernesto Valverde isn't as strong as some may suggest, prompting Liverpool to keep an eye on the situation should he want out of the Camp Nou.

Much like their goalkeeper situation, Liverpool have lacked a quality striker since selling Suarez in the first place. Should he become available by any circumstance, you'll bet Liverpool will be on the scene to try and nab him back

Likelihood: As likely as Ronaldo returning to United

MalcomBordeaux

Clubs interested: Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund

Young Brazilian Malcom is finding his way in France with Bordeaux at only 20 years old, attracting the attention of big clubs around Europe.

While Spurs have denied any interest, Malcom is yet another attacker on Mourinho's radar as he looks to add nothing but firepower to his abundantly rich squad.

However, Mourinho doesn't seem happy to give into the demands of a £45million valuation, which paves the way for Borussia Dortmund to try and steal the Brazilian from France.

A potential successor to the hotly valued Pierre Emerick Aubameyang perhaps? Only time will tell, but that's yet another deal which will decide if Dortmund continue their pursuit of Malcom.

Bordeaux manager Jocelyn Gourvennec admitted he may leave, but doesn't have a contingency plan as yet. He seems content to plan ahead with Malcom in the squad, but says whatever ultimately happens won't be just up to him.

Likelihood: Wait and see, he's still young
