With the amount of rumours swirling around at this time of year, even after the winter transfer window, it is sometimes difficult to decipher the truth.
These are matters of importance.
As the transfer talk now directed at the all-important summer market, there are enormous amounts of speculation swirling around Europe and the UK.
Not to worry however, because here at Tribalfootball, we have broken down the week's hottest transfer rumours, and inform you whether you should believe the paper talk or not.
Here are our top five trending transfer stories for the past week:
Neymar – Barcelona
Clubs Interested:Manchester United and Chelsea
Manchester United and Chelsea are hot on the heels of Barcelona's Neymar.
According to The Sunday Times, the Brazilian sensation is motivated by the move due the clubs interest in his services.
But it won't be cheap for the English giants.
The 22-year old wants £21.2million after tax from whichever club secures a transfer fee. This move would push Neymar above Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the highest paid footballer in Europe, which is believed to be another potential attraction for the Brazilian.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Neymar of recent times, despite the fact that he is contracted at Camp Nou until 2021.
However, this may not matter in the end. United are reportedly willing to meet the winger's £173m release clause, which means Barcelona will be helpless in stopping Neymar from departing.
Likelihood: Show me the money...says Neymar
Ben Woodburn – Liverpool
Clubs Interested: Real Madrid
Real Madrid is contemplating a surprising swoop for Liverpool starlet Ben Woodburn.
According to Don Balon, Real's Gareth Bale has urged president Florentino Perez to prize his countryman away from Anfield.
The 17-year-old recently featured on the bench for the Wales national team in their World Cup qualifier against Republic of Ireland.
During training camp with Wales, Bale must of saw immense talent and potential from the youngster with Don Balon reporting that he believes Woodburn can be a long-term heir to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Woodburn burst onto the scene this season when he became Liverpool's youngest goal scorer in the Reds' EFL Cup quarter-final win over Leeds United.
Although this moment was incredible, Woodburn has yet to test his pedigree in the rough and tumble pastures of the Premier League. Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has used Woodburn sparingly, having brought him off the bench three times this season. More time is needed for Woodburn to develop if he is to make the leap to Real Madrid.
Likelihood: Not just yet
Gareth Bale – Real Madrid
Clubs Interested: Manchester United
Once again, Gareth Bale's name is being linked with Manchester United.
It seems like an inevitable move, and Dialo Gol reports that despite Real's reluctance, the force behind a switch is growing stronger.
United made a play for Bale in 2013 but Tottenham Hotspur decided not sell to a direct rival, and Bale was instead shipped off to La Liga giants Real Madrid for a then world record deal.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly made contact with the Welshman, hoping that the lure of being the famous club's alpha star can seal the deal.
Bale has had up and down season with the La Liga front-runners. Injury and suspension has led to only 17 league appearances. But this doesn't mean he isn't revered in Madrid.
Despite some early growing pains following his move from Tottenham, Bale has been impeccable for Los Blancos.
Who can forget his 'herculean' Copa Del Rey winning goal against Barcelona?
That goal made him an instant hero at the Bernabeu and his performances since have done nothing to dent his stature.
Likelihood: Unlikely
Luka Modric – Real Madrid
Clubs Interested: Manchester United, Bayern Munich
Luka Modric could be on his way out of Real Madrid.
Despite Real boss Zinedine Zidane's insistence that Modric is 'untouchable,' president Florentino Perez is keen to move the Croatian on.
There will be no shortage of potential suitors for Modric, and Don Balon reports that agents from across Europe have been informed of the 31-year old's availability, which Real hopes will spark a bidding war.
It is of no surprise that Manchester United is reported to be one of the first clubs on the phone this week. After four stellar seasons at Tottenham, current United boss Jose Mourinho signed Modric when he was in charge of Real.
Bayern Munich is also speculated to be one of the most interested clubs. However, their depth in the midfield ranks doesn't require another talent to be thrown in there – although that has never stopped them before.
It will be interesting too see how this one plays out. Modric has copped some flak recently over his sub-par performances, which culminated in an early shower last week against Alaves.
There is the potential here of creating a fractured relationship between manager and president, but that doesn't rule out the move given Real's history.
Likelihood: Sit back, grab the popcorn and see how this unfolds
Eden Hazard – Chelsea
Clubs Interested: Real Madrid
Don Balon says that Eden Hazard is free to talk with Real Madrid.
The Chelsea star has reportedly been allowed to confer with Real over a potential blockbuster deal.
Despite Chelsea's desire to retain the Belgian's services, Real have Hazard at the top of their shopping list and a big money offer could tempt the Blues hierarchy.
Real have gone through the past four transfer windows without spending more than €50m on a player. This might seem like a pointless fact, but for Real Madrid, this is a lengthy stint of not opening the cheque book.
Likelihood: Maybe it's time for Eden to make a big splash...
