TRIBAL TRENDS - TRANSFERS: Guardiola's definite Man City buy; Carrasco chased by Chelsea, Man Utd; Barcelona told new Coutinho price;

With the amount of rumours swirling around at this time of year, even after the summer transfer window, it is sometimes difficult to decipher the truth.

These are matters of importance.

With all the transfer talk now directed at the January winter market, there are still enormous amounts of speculation swirling around Europe and the UK.

Not to worry however, because here at Tribalfootball, we have broken down the week's hottest transfer rumours, and inform you whether you should believe the paper talk or not.

Manchester City

Players Interested In: Faouzi Goulam (Napoli), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Aaron Martin (Espanyol)

The Manchester Evening News reports that Pep Guardiola wants to sign at least two of the aforementioned left-backs when January rolls around.

And you can understand why.

And you can understand why the rumour will come to fruition.

The first part is because Guardiola is without Benjamin Mendy until the latter stages of the season, if not all season.

The full-back position is imperative to Guardiola's style of play. You know that because of how much he invested in them over the summer - £100m+ - and because of how much the team has improved since he did invest in those players.

The second part is because the people who give him money spend a million like it's a pound.

The buying power is too strong, and when the circumstances are dire, muscles will be flexed.

Yes, yes, you might say that the improved play of Fabian Delph at full-back could mean Guardiola refrains from finding Mendy's replacement.

But with City where they are the moment, he won't take the risk.

Likelihood: As sure as the sun rising

Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal

Clubs Interested: Manchester City, PSG

Alexis Sanchez has left a cryptic message that he might be prepared to stay at Arsenal beyond this season.

The Chilean posted a photo of himself in the Gunners kit before they took on Everton last Sunday, with the caption: "A winner is just a loser that tried it one more time."

He then went out and played a blinder, accompanied by sidekicks Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil. It was the electrifying trio's first appearance together and it left Gooners salivating.

It's a shame it's only going to be around for 3 months, 9 months tops…

I must admit Alexis does look happier at the moment but it's not going to be enough to keep him at the club.

Likelihood: Sorry Gooners

Philippe Coutinho- Liverpool

Clubs Interested: Barcelona

Liverpool will allow Philippe Coutinho to leave for Barcelona - if they fork out £135million.

El Mundo Deportivo says agent Kia Joorabchian is working as a go-between the two clubs as they try to nut out a deal for the Brazilian playmaker.

Ideally the Reds would love to retain Coutinho, whilst also improving at the back. (SOMETHING THEY COULD HAVE DONE IN THE SUMMER…)

But it seems like the blind are leading the blind down on Merseyside as defensive issues in the number 16 (the number of goals they've conceded) has seen them plummet to ninth on the Premier League table.

For all the daft decisions, or more accurately, the lack there of, that the club has made in the transfer market, it tells me they might just do something crazy.

Like sell Coutinho.

Likelihood: Anything could happen

James Milner - Liverpool

Clubs Interested: Leicester City

The Telegraph reports that Leicester City are set to make a move for Liverpool utility James Milner.

But Liverpool don't want to let him go.

The jack-of-all-trades was put to the test last season when he was thrown into the left-back position in place of the hapless - and natural at the position - Alberto Moreno.

Now Moreno is back there and Milner has made just three starts this season.

How does a player who is replaced by a midfielder now suddenly go back to starting? Ahhh I digress.

The point is - Milner will continued to be needed throughout the season. He's the Mr. Fix-It for Jurgen Klopp - and boy aren't we sure the German will need him throughout the rest of the season.

Likelihood: Not Jimmy

Yannick Carrasco -Atletico Madrid

Clubs Interested: Chelsea, Manchester United

ASclaims a locker room spat between Atletico Madrid teammates Gabi and Yannick Carrasco has caused the latter to want an exit from the club.

Los Rojiblancos fans also booed Carrasco after he complained about being substituted against Qarabag in their Champions League fixture.

Throw in the fact that Gabi is a fan favourite, and you can imagine Carrasco isn't the most well liked man walking around the Puerta del Sol.

A winter move has been mooted and the prospective buyers are of course, Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Belgian winger isn't short of talent and so both clubs are set to lock horns in a bidding war.

Both could definitely use some help on the wings, and we all know Jose Mourinho is missing that fourth player.

If the teammates riff is true, Carrasco could definitely be on his way out of the Metropolitano.
