Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud admits they cannot compete with West Ham United for Nice striker Loic Remy.
The Hammers have so far failed two bids for Remy in the last fortnight.
Triaud said: "They refused to accept 13.5 million euros from West Ham, so I do not see how we could make a proposal that pleased them.
"I do not say it's too expensive, I do not know. In any case, it is not within our means."
