David Trezeguet has backed Juventus' pursuit of Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.

The striker said of his fellow Frenchman: "First of all, I hope that Pavel Nedved will play for a long time. If he fails to do so, we must just try for a worthy substitute.

"I can recommend Ribery because he is one of my fellow countrymen, but his quality is unquestionable. He's a player who can cover different roles in midfield and also acts for the national team behind the strikers.

"I believe the future of Juve will need such a player."
