Trapattoni: Long ball Tottenham no good for Keane

Giovanni Trapattoni has rapped Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp over his tactics and use of Robbie Keane.

The Republic of Ireland coach says Keane isn't suited to Spurs because they play too many "long balls".

He said: "In international football it is crucial to have a player provide a link between midfield and attack.

"Totti does it for Roma. And if you remember my first press conference, I said that Robbie could be our Totti.

"So much of English football is about long balls. Tottenham have Peter Crouch and pump it long to him but Robbie is like Liverpool and can play beautiful football.

"He is a different type of striker to most ones in England. With age he has got better and realises it is not just about running around.

"His positioning is improving all the time. He is crucial to my game-plan."
