Former Juventus boss Giovanni Trapattoni has defended Italy World Cup coach Cesare Prandelli.
Prandelli has resigned since the Azzurri's World Cup elimination.
"He did a great job, considering the previous years too," said Trapattoni.
"When there are negative results, even if undeserved, unfortunately this can happen. In my view the elimination was a coincidence, as football is made of these moments.
"Prandelli is aware of certain situations and probably didn't feel he wanted to continue. There is always the desire to make up for bad experiences and over 48 hours Cesare might reconsider, but to be honest this seems like a considered reaction with a sense of logic.
"Prandelli is not the first Italy Coach to resign, after all."
