Shane Long is in doubt for West Bromwich Albion's clash with Southampton this weekend according to Giovanni Trapattoni . The Baggies host the Saints on Monday night but could be without striker Long who is battling a hamstring injury.
Republic of Ireland manager Trapattoni has revealed that he had to leave Long out of his squad for next month's friendly with Greece and suggested that the former Reading star would probably not be fit to face Southampton.
"Yesterday, he answered me, or the day before yesterday," said Trapattoni.
"We also received an update (from Albion). He has a knock under the knee.
"He has to see a scan again, I don't know. Right now, we don't know. I hope he can play on Monday.
"At the moment, the club doesn't think he will be ready and will let us know if he is ready. I would be surprised if he plays on Monday."
