Andy Kellett was almost blocked from his dream move to Manchester United.
The defender signed for United on-loan from Bolton Wanderers, despite having turned out for the Trotters and Plymouth Argyle this season.
The Telegraph says emergency loans are not counted when assessing the number of clubs a player has represented in a season, unless he is moving abroad.
Kellett's move to Argyle was made during the Football League's emergency loan transfer window.
