Adelaide United FC Head Coach Rini Coolen has confirmed Luciano Trani as his Assistant Coach for the next two years.

Part of Wellington Phoenix's coaching staff for the past two seasons, Trani replaces Phil Stubbins as Coolen's right hand man at the Reds.

Trani is renowned as a strong tactical technician and was a part-time football conditioner for New Zealand's 2010 FIFA World Cup squad.

Coolen ended speculation that Melbourne based Trani was on his way to Adelaide by officially announcing the Reds' latest coaching acquisition at a media conference this morning.

"There were some rumours that we have a new coach and that's true, we can confirm that Luciano Trani is going to take over the position from Phil Stubbins," Coolen stated.

"Luciano cannot be here today, unfortunately his mother passed away a couple of days ago, but he will be here at the start of the pre season and there is enough time to talk with him personally.

"We're very happy to bring him in. We did our homework, I spoke to him personally and I asked him a lot of things, so I'm very happy that we can bring him to this club."

And Coolen added that it was his duty to alter the culture at the club to make Adelaide United a success.

"We have to change the club culture and that means in short that the club is number one and that there is no person more important than the club, not even the coach, so that's a kind of thing we have to change for the future," Coolen added.

"Everybody has to go in the same direction, work together very well and support each other.

"I think we have to be more professional, put the club in position number one. Everybody knows during the season things happen, everybody has an ego - that's no problem, but the ego cannot be more important than the club, and every decision I make as a coach, every decision players and staff members make, has to be for the benefit of the club."
