Training ground injury deprives Blackpool of striker Harewood

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is resigned to be being without Marlon Harewood for up to six weeks after the striker damaged his hamstring in a training ground accident. The 31 year old suffered the setback ahead of the Barclays Premier League match against Bolton on Saturday.

Holloway said: "Marlon did not look too happy today. He is a lovely lad, who was getting himself going and scoring.

"It is just not nice what has happened and at an important time of the season as well.

"He is big and he is strong and he has scored some goals for us which is hard to do at this level. But this is an occupational hazard.

"I wanted it to be competitive at the end of training and it went on too long. We had one team running against another and he has torn his hamstring. It was my fault.

"I'm in the doghouse from the physio. How long is Marlon likely to be out for? Five or six weeks."

Harewood said: "I did it in training yesterday. We were doing sprints and I tore my hamstring.

"I can't believe it as I was feeling good and thought I was playing well.

"I'm not a happy man at the moment but I'll keep going and hopefully I'll be back before too long."
