Townsend insists he wants Tottenham stay

Andros Townsend insists he wants to stay with Tottenham this season.

The England winger has recently forced his way back into Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI following an injury to Erik Lamela and he is confident he will still be at the club when the transfer window closes on February 2.

"The club want me here and I want to be here, so that's all I can say at the minute," Townsend told the London Evening Standard. "I'm a Spurs boy. I've been at the club since the age of eight so as long as I'm in the team, as I have been over the last few weeks, I'm not looking to go anywhere.

"Unless the club come and tell me they want me to leave then I won't be going anywhere. I'm fighting for my shirt. The last six or seven windows have been the same, with my name linked with other clubs.

"Earlier in the season I was limited only to cup games, Capital One and Europa League but now hopefully I've broken back into that Premier League squad, hopefully I can put a run of games together and all these rumours that come about every transfer window can go away."
