Townsend determined to grab his Spurs chance

Tottenham winger Andros Townsend is determined to grab his new chance at White Hart Lane with both hands.

Having kicked his heels in the wilderness for the best part of three years, being constantly loaned out from White Hart Lane, the playmaker is adamant that will never happen.

"I've had to wait a long time. I have had nine loans in the lower leagues - so I am not going to let my form dip," Townsend told the Daily Star Sunday.

"I live for football. I am not one of those who goes out drinking or partying.

"It's only about football for me. On a Saturday night, I go home and watch La Liga on TV.

"I have seen it before where players have had great starts to their international careers and have then faded into the background.

"But I am a grounded boy. I have a good family.

"They won't let me get ahead of myself.

"I want to stay at the top for as long as possible."
