Toure: Man City can deal with criticism

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has hit back at critics ahead of his side's Champions League Round of 16 second leg clash against Barcelona.

City have failed to make it past this stage in the Champions League last term and it is looking very likely that Manuel Pellegrini's side will endure a similar fate during the current edition as well, having lost 2-1 at home against Barcelona in the first leg clash.

City failing to perform in Europe has meant that they have faced a barrage of criticism from the media and fans alike.

Despite bearing the brunt of the disparagement, City ace Toure has remained defiant of his side's chances in Europe's premier club competition and has stated that the Premier League holders can deal with the negative press surrounding them.

"Last year everybody said we were a top team in Europe," said Toure.

"Now we have lost a couple of games and everybody says we are the worst. We can deal with that. The players know what they have to do."
