Yaya Toure was thrilled with Manchester City’s performance in their opening weekend win over Newcastle United on Monday night.
The Ivory Coast midfielder netted City’s third goal with a neat free-kick in the 50th minute in their 4-0 rout at Etihad Stadium and was lifted by the team’s showing in their first competitive match under Manuel Pellegrini.
"It was a fantastic result and a fantastic beginning,” he told Sky Sports.
"We know the Premier League is very, very tough, but we played very well and full credit to all the team. We worked really hard to try to kill the game in the first half.
"The target of the club this year is to do fantastic things in the Premier League and Champions League, and I hope this year is going to be the time for us."
