Newcastle United are reviving their interest in Toulouse Cheik M'Bengue.
The Evening Chronicle says a move to Marseille for M'Bengue fell through because of a dispute between sporting director Jose Anigo, who wanted to sign the defender, and Didier Deschamps, who wasn't happy about the possibility of him coming to the Velodrome because of his potential January involvement in the African Cup of Nations with Senegal.
Newcastle see M'Bengue as a replacement for want-away Jose Enrique and chief scout Graham Carr watched him extensively last season.
