Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate remains optimistic he can break England's defensive pairing of John Terry (Chelsea) and Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United).

"To be fair it has always been a challenge because they are two top players," Woodgate told setantasports.com.

"Even if they weren't skipper or if it was someone it would still be a challenge for me to get in the team."
