Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate is confident all three Northeast clubs will beat the drop this season.
"As a Middlesbrough lad, and having played for Newcastle, it's not nice when you see those clubs down there fighting for their survival," Woodgate told Setanta Sports News.
"But Spurs have been down there as well. I'm sure they can get out of it.
"Being from the region, I wouldn't like to see any of the north east clubs go down - not even Sunderland. But they'll keep on fighting until the end, I'm sure.
"The fans up there are second to none. When you go up there there's always a full stadium in Newcastle and Sunderland.
"It's a fantastic atmosphere to play in."
