Tottenham defender Ricardo Rocha has revealed his influence in Geovanni's move to Manchester City.

The Portuguese told the Spurs website: "Geovanni is a great person and a great footballer, and he's done well for Manchester City so far this season, scoring some good goals.

"I talk to him a lot because I didn't know he had arrived when he first came and he phoned me to ask me what English football was like.

"He's scoring some goals, but I hope he doesn't score against us on Sunday because it's an important game for us and we need to win.

"I remember Geovanni scored an equaliser against Manchester United in the Champions League and we eventually won that game and knocked them out. I've had some memorable moments in my career and that was certainly one of them."
