Tottenham's Parker admits struggling with fitness

Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker admits he was struggling for England's draw with France.

Roy Hodgson has always been concerned that Parker is short on match-fitness but the battling midfielder insists he will be just fine.

He said: "It was a tough game against France We worked pretty hard and it was a full-on defensive display.

"I didn't really want to come off, but was feeling some cramp so thought it was the best decision in the end. We've got another two games so have to keep going. It's a very intense tournament and the conditions are very difficult.

"It was very hot out there, but I'm sure I'll be fine for the next game. Myself and Steven just have to keep going. We have to don't we?

"There's not a lot of cover in midfield, but I'm sure we'll be fine, and we have got other boys who can come in. It was a very disciplined performance from me and Stevie, and that's what we needed.

"I always look forward to playing with him, and hopefully he's the same.

"We've worked very hard together in training and I'd like to think we did exactly what the manager wanted.

"Sweden will be a difficult game. We've not had the best of results against them in this competition, but we'll try to be positive."
