Tottenham's Jenas wins late England call

Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has been called into Fabio Capello's England squad as a replacement for Manchester United's Michael Carrick.

Jenas was originally left out of Capello's 23-man party but has been granted a reprieve after Carrick picked up an ankle injury on Manchester United duty against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

The midfielder limped off after just 25 minutes of the match and Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson immediately ruled him out of contention for Wednesday's game.

Ferguson claimed Carrick would be out for "two to three weeks", revealing his ankle had "swollen up badly" following his substitution.
