The half-brother of England footballer Jermain Defoe died on Friday night after a street attack. A 28-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody.

A Tottenham statement read: "All at the club wish to extend their condolences to Jermain Defoe and his family following the death of his half-brother late yesterday.

"Our thoughts are with Jermain and his family at this sad time.

"The club will be giving Jermain both time and support whilst respecting his and his family's privacy."
