The Daily Mail says Boateng has been questioned by police after a night out with a former team-mate.

The 22-year-old was celebrating the birthday of Hertha Berlin midfielder Patrick Ebert when cars were allegedly damaged in Berlin early on Wednesday.

Germany Under 21 international Ebert, also 22, has been suspended from the first team by his club.

According to reports in Germany, one car was scratched and the wing mirrors were damaged on five other vehicles in the district of Wilmersdorf at about 3am. Both deny the claims.

Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund, where Boateng is on loan, both initially released issued statements denying any wrongdoing, but confirmed the police had been in contact with their respective players.

Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc said: "I was in contact with him (Boateng) over the phone, he vehemently denies these allegations."

Boateng signed for Spurs in July 2007 from Hertha Berlin and made 21 appearances for Tottenham in 2007-08. He joined Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window after making just one appearance for Spurs this season.
