Tottenham are ready to launch a fresh bid for Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley.

The Guardian says Spurs, whose initial offer including Aaron Lennon as a makeweight was rejected by Blackburn, will press ahead with an improved bid for the 23-year-old.

The winger met Blackburn's new manager, Paul Ince, for talks over the weekend and, with his England future in mind, reiterated his desire to leave Ewood Park to play for a club involved in European competition. But Rovers are reluctant sellers and will seek a substantial fee for the midfielder.
