Tottenham winger Andros Townsend is full of pride over his maiden England U21 call.

Townsend has won a call-up to the England U21 squad after impressing for Spurs this season.

He told the London Evening Standard: "This was the first time I'd spoken to Stuart Pearce [England Under-21 coach] and he just told me he knew how good I was, what my strengths were and not to be afraid to show him what I can do when I'm at Spurs.

"This is a really important game for England and if I can get time on the pitch, it will rank as a huge achievement for me."
