Tottenham winger Carroll thrilled with winning England U21 debut

Tottenham winger Tom Carroll was thrilled to make a winning England U21 debut against Romania.

The young midfielder entered the action as a 75th-minute substitute alongside Spurs team-mate Adam Smith at Wycombe's Adams Park. Danny Rose started to make it three Spurs caps on the night.

"It was a proud moment to get some game time and I'm delighted to win my first cap for the Under-21s," Carroll told the Spurs website.

"I just wanted to get on the ball as much as possible and try to impress the manager.

"The week has gone really well so far, training has been great and I'm really happy to end the first half of the international break with some minutes on the pitch."
