Gareth Bale was delighted for Tottenham teammate Jermain Defoe over his brace in victory at Reading.
The England striker's double took his tally to five goals in just seven games for club and country this season.
Spurs ace Bale, who also scored against the Royals, said: "Has he been in better nick? No.
"He's looking sharp, a bit greedy as normal, but that's him.
"It's great for him and great for the team - as long as somebody's scoring, I don't think any of us mind.
"I don't think that anyone's ever doubted his ability to score goals and you always need a player in your team like him, who can just pop in with a goal."
