US-born Italian international Giuseppe Rossi will cost Tottenham £35million if they want him.
Spurs were quoted that amount by the player's agent and brother when they enquired about the Villarreal striker.
Rossi flopped badly when he joined Manchester United as a teenager in 2004, eventually heading back to Italy to join Parma on loan after a short stay with Newcastle United in 2007.
Since then, however, Rossi has been an invaluable member of the Yellow Submarine and has attracted interest from various sections of Europe.
Tottenham are in search of a new striker but £35m seems far too much and it is highly unlikely Harry Redknapp will continue any interest in the 23-year old.
