Tottenham are keeping tabs on Mauro Zarate's situation at Lazio.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito attempted to broker a deal with Spurs for the Argentine last month.
Zarate was hooked at halftime of Sunday's win over Bologna and coach Edy Reja says the striker has lost "his motivation".
Tottenham were on the lookout for a high-quality striker in the summer, failing with bids for Edin Dzeko and Luis Fabiano, but could not do a deal without finding buyers for the likes of Robbie Keane. Boss Harry Redknapp will assess his attacking options again in January.
