Tottenham are making a move for Athletic Bilbao striker Ibai Gomez.
Gomez is off contract in June and has insisted his priority is to agree new terms with Athletic.
However, Spurs hope to turn the striker's head by making contact with his representatives this month ahead of discussing a pre-contract offer.
Gomez can commit to a money-spinning pre-contract with Spurs from January 1 before moving to London on Bosman next summer.
Bilbao chiefs know they cannot compete with Spurs when it gets down to contract terms.
