Tottenham unlikely to do business in January - Sherwood

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has basically ruled out any sort of January transfer action for the north London club.

Spurs moved up to seventh on the Premier League table thanks to a 3-0 win over Stoke City on Sunday which was their first triumph at White Hart Lane in five outings.

Tottenham find themselves eight points off league leaders and north London rivals Arsenal at the halfway point of the campaign but that won't prompt new boss Sherwood to make any rash changes to his already strong, yet injury-hit squad.

"The ability is there to do it, if we really need to. The only reason we would look to do it at the moment is because of our crippling injury list," he told Sky Sports.

"What I don't want to do is collect players for three or four weeks and then you end up with them for the rest of the season and two or three years on.

"If boys like (Zeki) Fryers can come in and do a job, then we will go with them."
