Tottenham are expected to step up their interest in Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo this week.

The Daily Mail says Jermain Defoe has been nursing a pelvic injury and was left out of the squad for yesterday's trip to Leeds amid fears he may yet need surgery.

They are keen on Sevilla striker Negredo but have yet to strike a deal and they are interested in Aston Villa's Christian Benteke although this is not something they can complete this month as he has already played for two clubs this season.
