Tottenham are set to start negotiations with Everton for the transfer of James McCarthy, reports the Daily Mirror.

The 24-year-old is reportedly interested in a move to White Hart Lane after growing frustrated during his two-year stay at Goodison Park.

Midfielder McCarthy is reportedly disgruntled with his current contract and feels let down at failed promises from the club to improve his deal.

The Republic of Ireland international signed a five-year deal with the Toffees in 2013 but failure to offer him a new contract might see him move to London this summer with Spurs ready to make an offer for his services.
