Real Madrid and Barcelona are going head-to-head for Tottenham star Gareth Bale. The National says both Spanish giants are willing to better Bale's current Spurs wages to bring him to the La Liga this summer. Barca are prepared to offer €7 million-a-year, while Real will go higher with a €9 million-a-year package.
Real and Barca feel the door will open to landing Bale with Spurs manager Harry Redknapp expected to leave for the England job.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be reluctant to sell and early indications are that he will demand in the region of the same £80 million Real paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo.
