Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen is happy he's on Twitter.

The Belgium international was forced to deny claims last week of an agreement with Tottenham.

"That bothered me," said Vertonghen. "It was immediately a good introduction to the English press. I have learned a lesson. I was immediately congratulated.

"Fortunately I was able to straighten things up through Twitter."
