Danny Drinkwater is on the verge of penning a new contract with Leicester City.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri has revealed that the 26-year-old midfielder, who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur of late, will soon sign an extension with the Premier League champions.

"I think Drinky is very, very close," said Ranieri ahead of Saturday's home meeting with Arsenal.

"I am very happy with Drinky, he had a fantastic season and I am sure also he can improve as he has more confidence.

"He can extend his career here."
