Tottenham striker Pavlyuchenko: Chelsea paid for being too cocky

Roman Pavlyuchenko says Tottenham played like title contenders for their victory over Chelsea on Saturday.

The forward believes Chelsea paid the price for over-confidence at White Hart Lane as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat and John Terry was sent off.

Pavlyuchenko said in the Daily Star: "During the whole game against Chelsea it looked like us who were the favourites for the title.

"I hadn't expected that we would be so much stronger than them. Many Chelsea players were too confident of victory.

"I noticed during the warm-up that they looked too relaxed, while we were set for a serious battle.

"It was a successful game for us, and had we converted just half of our chances we'd have won 6-1."
