Tottenham striker Kane has no qualms over England U21 choice

Harry Kane has no regrets about representing the England U21 team at the European Championships during the summer.

The Tottenham striker could have bypassed the tournament in the Czech Republic after a long Premier League season with Spurs which brought about his debut for the England senior side.

Kane opted to play under Gareth Southgate in the UEFA competition which ended badly for the Young Lions who bowed out at the group stage with just one win from their three fixtures.

22-year-old Kane has thus far been unable to replicate his blistering form of last season, which bore 30 goals in all competitions for Tottenham, but he does not believe burning out over summer with the U21s is the reason for that.

"I made it clear that I wanted to go with the Under-21's," he said.

"It was a great experience for me.

"Obviously it didn't go as well as what we wanted, but it was all about learning, and gaining experience.

"Hopefully I will take that into next year's European Championships. What [being in] the hotel is like. What the games are like every three or four days.

"The training, preparing for teams when you only have two or three days in which to do it. It has helped me, especially with my international football."
