Real Madrid have reportedly identified Tottenham striker Harry Kane as a long-term recruitment target to replace Cristiano Ronaldo when the Portuguese star eventually leaves the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Telegraph is reporting Kane has been on Madrid's radar for more than 12 months, but they are unlikely to make a move for the 22-year-old during the current transfer window.
A more realistic scenario is that Los Blancos will sound out the England international should Ronaldo leave Madrid during the summer as reports have suggested.
Kane is currently among the highest paid players at Tottenham, but could command more at a European powerhouse like Madrid.
It is understood Spurs would be more willing to sell Kane to an overseas club, rather than strengthen one of their Premier League rivals and a relationship has already been formed with Madrid following the transfers of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.
