Tottenham striker Gudjohnsen still has soft spot for Bolton

Tottenham striker Eidur Gudjohnsen says former club Bolton Wanderers will always be special to him.

Spurs face Bolton today in the FA Cup.

Gudjohnsen doesn't underestimate the role Bolton played in his career. He suffered a huge setback in his early days with a serious ankle injury and was released by Dutch team PSV. Playing back home in Iceland, Bolton signed him from KR Reykjavic in August, 1998 and he didn't look back.

"My career was up in the air, I'd been out for a long time with an ankle injury and Bolton took a bit of a chance on me," he told the Spurs website. "It took time for me to get going but it really took off after about six months.

"I had a great time there, was treated very well and until this day, the respect is there. I've nothing but positive things to say about the club and the people there."
