Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe feels for former teammate Darren Bent over his problems at Aston Villa.

Bent is struggling to nail down a place in new Villa boss Paul Lambert's team after returning from injury.

Defoe said: "Yeah, I feel sympathy for him. He didn't start the other day but he came on and scored their equaliser.

"He is a natural goalscorer so I am sure if he gets chances he will score goals. But, on Sunday, it is not me against Benty. It is Tottenham against Aston Villa. It is about us winning and pushing forward."
