Tottenham striker Defoe desperate to keep England place

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe was delighted with his goals for England in their 6-0 thumping of Andorra.

Defoe, who scored twice as a second-half substitute, is hoping a positive season in 2009/10 will earn him a place in South Africa, if England qualify.

"I'm just going to keep working hard. Next season is a massive season for everyone and not just me. Hopefully I'll be on that plane," he said.
